Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron opened last week, which is great news because it signals that the disastrous press tour for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is almost over. Super-bros Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner had to apologize last month for calling Black Widow a “slut” in an interview, and on Conan Monday, Renner made it pretty clear that he doesn’t really get why anyone didn’t find his joke hilarious.

Here’s Renner last month:

“I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour.”

And here’s Renner last night, nullifying his half-assed apology by arguing that, in his defense, Black Widow really is kind of a slut. He’s just saying.

Mind you, we are talking about a fictional character and fictional behavior, Conan, but if you slept with four of the six Avengers, no matter how much fun you had, you’d be a slut. Just saying. I’d be a slut. Just saying.

That’s really the hill you want to die on? That slut-slaming is A-ok (and funny) as long as you’re talking about a fictional character? Continuing to be a dickhead on this point is a bad look, especially when Marvel is already being criticized for leaving the only female Avenger out of toy lines, t-shirts, and other merch.
